Our little “bear,” Grant, was born 5 weeks early (with lots of hair which inspired the nickname). The above photo was a “newborn” photo that was actually taken at one month because he had lost so much weight after birth, so we had to fatten our little bear up again before his first photos. At one month, he finally weighed as much as my other two children at birth. Praise God he was born healthy, stayed healthy, and we celebrated his first birthday at the end of August with a fitting Vintage Bear theme. Grant’s party was the last party in our “party marathon 2013″ (where I threw 5 children’s birthday parties in just over a month!).
Grant’s birthday party was featured on Kara’s Party Ideas and you can read all of the party details here. I’m so happy to share all of my favorite photos from before the party taken by our photographer, Jennifer, of Jennifer Schattle Photography. The first birthday boy!Being silly!A close-up of Grant’s outfit. His shirt is from baby gap and the bow tie, knickers, socks & shoes are from janie & jack. This close-up is one of my very favorites. His eyes melt my heart!Welcome to the party! We had just moved into our “new” old home. It was built in 1971 and has never been updated, so please excuse the, ummm, lovely surroundings. We are working on updating slowly but surely. Perhaps I’ll share some home progress photos in the future! The vintage bear graphic I created from a found old birthday card just for our little bear. The invitation and matching printables will be released in the Etsy shop too very soon. The party room. We made the choice to have a family-only, intimate celebration so that the birthday boy would not get overstimulated. We kept the celebration simple with cake, bear related sweets, and birthday punch. It was enjoyable for all!You would not believe how much I ironed the tablecloth, yet, I could not get those wrinkles to release. Ironing tricks or secrets would be greatly appreciated from any experts! The cake and smash cake were made by my husband. The cakes were vanilla with buttercream icing and a cream cheese filling. So delicious!Gorgeous teddy bear macarons from Le Bonbon.Perfect cookies from Icings by Ang.Grant’s party hat was handmade by Jessica of Prop Shop Boutique. It’s one of my favorite things and will be a keepsake for years to come. The birthday boy with his party hat on! He didn’t like the ribbons around his chin though.
Brother, sister, and the birthday boy — so sweet. I hope you enjoyed Grant’s first birthday party!
